Company Name “too like” an earlier name
Last month, Companies House accepted our complaint made on behalf of The Mad Hatter Tea Company Limited, that the name “Mad Hatters Tea Company Limited” was too like our client’s existing company name.
The Secretary of State has now directed that Mad Hatters Tea Company Limited should change its name.
This type of remedy against future confusion has been available for many years. It continues to be available despite the introduction on 1 October 2008 of a new formal procedure for adjudication in company name disputes.
